At Preston Baptist Church we use music in
various ways to worship the Lord. Whenever we meet together
as a church family to praise our great God, hear His word
and encourage each other in our Christian lives, music plays
an important role.
We would like to give you some information
to help you know whether or not God is leading you into
the musical life of our church.
Worship Services
We have two worship services a week. On a Thursday morning
and a Sunday morning. Our worship team is made up of musicians,
singers, and multimedia operators from within our fellowship
who wish to serve God with their musical, and practical
abilities.
The team meets on a Friday evening to worship pray and
practice for the following Sunday.
Music Styles
We embrace a wide variety of music in our worship, drawing
together the latest worship songs from today's leading
songwriters to the best of the traditional music that
has been enabling the Christian church to worship for
centuries. In this way we believe we provide a setting
that enables people of all ages to meet personally with
God.
Biblical Foundation
Each week we aim to ensure our music supports the biblical
message and theme for the service. We are careful in selecting
songs with words that are relevant to the text. This is
always more important than the musical tune itself.
What About Commitment?
We are all believers in Christ and deserve to live according
to his word.
Leading music is a service to God, and needs to reflect
a desire to move on in our walk with him, and grow in
his love. It is a great learning experience, and being
involved carries responsibility and accountability.
It is important to be in a right relationship with God
before considering leading in worship. In fact, this takes
priority over musical ability although this in good measure
is also essential.
It is also important to build good relationships with
the other members in the group, and to work together as
a team, not as individuals.
Multimedia
No less an important part of the worship team is Multimedia.
Our worship is brought together and supported by those
operating the Sound and Projection systems. These resources
enable us to see and hear the sung and spoken word.
