The prayer group
The prayer group meets every Tuesday morning at 10:45 a.m. in the Green room at Preston
Baptist Church.
We begin with a short time of catching up with each other’s news and updates on answers
to our prayers. We move on to our thought for the day which may be inspired by poems,
daily readings or a Bible reading. Alan Slough usually gives us a word of meditation
and thoughts from the Bible.
We make time for members to request prayers for anyone who is ill in the Church family,
personal family and other requests for prayers to be included on the prayer board
and in the book which is kept on the communion table in the church.
An important part of our group meetings is to have a time for prayer, which can be
either audible or in silence, lasting as long as is needed. We pray for missionaries
and the world situation, for the government and people in authority. We pray for
the church, the leaders and the different sections of the Church. Sometimes we will
sing a chorus or hymn. We are led by the Lord in our prayer, and feel that communication
with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour is the most important part of our church life.
Great things start from small beginnings, and so please come and join us and feel
God's blessing in your life. We finish by saying grace together, and our meeting
usually ends at around midday.
